Do you like to go to the movies? Go to concerts? Watch the NBA games, keep up with the latest trends, have time to know about what’s going on with every celebrity:Who broke up who got back together? Watch the football games on Sunday, and happy hour on Wednesday?
What if the very things that you considered as just having fun are the same things are distracting you from having a deeper intimate relationship with God.
As you continue to grow and evolve it’s important that you understand how valuable your time is. It’s the only thing that we do not get back. I believe it’s more valuable than money. Money you can get back your time you can not.
As you read about the bible stories or study ancient history you’ll find that people in ancient history had the most intimate and beautiful relationship with God. Moses, Noah, Abraham… And then I asked God why is that? How is it that they were able to talk to you daily, and part the reed sea, and do all these great things? You are the same God then and the same God now. So why aren’t miracles happening everyday, and people being healed from cancer on the spot? And he simply said there are too many distractions.
The people back in the biblical times where desperate for God they needed God in order to make their next move. They were fasting for days, constantly sacrificing, simply devoting their whole life and time to live for God. In todays time we barely devote time to him but then expect God to do these great things in our lives. You see in America we treat God like an option. Will take him off the shelf when we need him. So I’m asking you do you like to be entertained? How do you spend your time? The one thing the God desires more than anything with us is a relationship. And to have an intimate relationship with anyone you have to be able to spend time and communicate. Miracles were not just suppose to happen in biblical times so we can read about them today. God is the past, present, and future God. So be aware of how your spending your time and where your time is going. Beware of living a life full of distractions. Do not let the entertainment industry rob you from realizing what is really important in life.
Here are three tips to help you remove distractions from your life?
1. Monitor the amount of time you watch television. You see if you do not have your own vision the TV will tell you a vision. Hence the word television. The time you spend religiously watching POWER can be replaced with religiously spending time with God.
2. Be careful how you spend your free time. Every time you are off work are you running to hang out with friends or planning fun trips? Or are you taking the time out and saying I’m going to dedicate this day back to God.
3. Be careful of being “fake busy” we can be so caught up in doing all the wrong things. If your living for God your steps will be ordered. And I’m pretty sure he’s not leading you to the bar every weekend.
