Going On To Maturity

Today I wanted to discuss going on to maturity. Maturity meaning being spiritually mature and actually living that out in our day to day lives. The text says:

In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! (Hebrews 5:12)

The text is saying by this time you should be teaching and leading by example but you can’t because you have not grown spiritually you are still going around the same mountains still not passing the test. Spiritually you are still a baby and have come to need milk and not solid food.

You’re still doing the same things you were doing five-ten years ago just on a different scale, you’re still cursing people out every time they make you mad, you’re still dating multiple woman manipulating them into thinking that you want a relationship with them, you’re still with the same man who keeps tearing you down who God told you to leave two years ago.

When is it going to stop?

It’s important that we get to a place where we can start passing some of these test so that God can continue to advance us. I know there maybe times where you feel stuck in a season, lost or don’t know what’s next for your life. But how can he continue to advance you and he’s still having to teach you the fundamentals. How can he send you out into the world and give you a platform for his people and you don’t know how to talk to people?

Some of you should be at the point where you are being examples to the younger generation but you have not fully matured even though you know better but still continue to walk in dis-obedience. Some of you probably don’t need to hear another word or another scripture. Now it’s time to start applying some of that word and putting it into action and actually living it out in your day to day lives.

Many times we ask God what’s next for our lives and what’s next is kingdom building what are you doing to advance the kingdom? And I’m not saying that everyone has to be a preacher and start a church although a preacher is simply someone who can hear a fresh word from God and convey what they heard. So technically everyone can be a preacher if you have your own personal relationship with God.

Overall it’s time to start being that example, that role model, rather it’s through writing, making videos, singing, starting a business, whatever your talent maybe it’s your time to rise above your circumstances and start leading by example. Your purpose is awaiting….

Here are three tips to help you move on to spiritual maturity:

  1. Develop your own relationship with God.

  2. Be obedient to what he’s calling you to do.

  3. Don’t ignore the signs. There are normally plenty of sings in your life that are telling you to move on or to let something or someone go. Don’t ignore the signs. How can God bring in the new if you are constantly holding on to the old?
