Be Still!

Some people think that once you give your life to God your life will then become perfect with no struggles, no test, no tribulations. And of course that is not that case what so ever. When you give your life to God by saying “Lord, I am no longer in control of my life I give it to you. Whatever your will is let it be done.”

It does not mean that your life will be perfect it means when test and trials do come your way you don’t stress or worry about your current circumstance knowing that God has it under control and that all things work for your good even the things you thought were bad.

Sometimes all we need to do is just be still and know that God is in control. (Psalms 46:10) Often times we think we always have to be doing something or say something profound but if we were just quite and sat before God he will be able to give us the direction we need. We can be so caught up in or day to day life’s with going to work, visiting friends, making dinner, spending time with the children that we forget that spending time with God is the most important. How do you have time to do all these other activities but you don’t make time to spend with the one who blessed you with all these things? We have to stop rushing ahead of God because we lack patience. And I know living in this “microwave” generation where we want everything instantly does not help either. But just remember when you do less you give room for God to be able to do more.

Here are three tips to help you be still before God:

  1. You have to fully surrender your life to God. And let him have control. (If you want to give your life to God you can simply say that bolded phrase in the first paragraph out loud)

  2. When the text says "be still" it does not mean to do nothing but it means to give it to God and know that God is bigger than what your going though.

  3. If you are in a situation and your lacking clarity from God on how you should move just be still and sit at his feet.
