Maintaining the Grind

Grinding is a word that you typically hear most people in the entrainment industry use quite often. I figured if grinding is the common factor that most people talk about who accomplished some great things in life I should explore this word a little more.
I’ve found that the word grind means nothing more than doing the same thing over and over until something is produced. It’s laborious work. It’s hard work that is uninterrupted. Your work ethic is important for you to reach the next level because faith without work is dead. Faith and your work ethic go hand in hand.
I remember the day when I asked God for vision, purpose, and clarity, and then when I started to walk in purpose I noticed my days becoming longer and longer. There was a time where I would wake up, get my son dressed, get breakfast, pack lunches, drop him off at school, go to work, pick him up from school, take him to football practice, work out, cook dinner, start on his home work and my homework, as I was full time student myself, and then work on things for Jordan’s Journey and then do it all over again. Basically all work and no play.
And then I realized I was on my grind. I was doing the same routine everyday until I saw some fruit from my late nights and early mornings. This was my grinding season. I’ve learned during grinding season you're planting your seeds for your harvest. It’s the season right after the wilderness because you’re not lost because you have some direction but it’s the season before you actually reach the promise land. The promise land is where you reap the harvest that God has for you. It’s important that you maintain your grind during the grinding season because that is the season when you are planting your seeds to reap the harvest that God has prepared for you. The grinding season can last for years but it’s your job to recognize the season you are in and not to give up.
Here are four things I’ve learned during the grinding season:
God will meet you half way. I was the type that would have to take naps daily. And then all of a sudden even if I was tired I couldn’t sleep. There was still work that needed to be done. Understand that we don’t do this solely based on our own strength but we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. So just wake up and get there God will do the rest.
Be cautious of the relationships and company you keep. Destiny is a walk with God and everyone won’t understand and that’s okay. God will bring people in your life to assist you with your purpose. Beware of those relationships that are not adding value to your life. Those relationships will eventually turn into distractions.
Develop a daily routine and stick to it. Be sure you incorporate time to work on your vison daily.
Taking care of yourself spiritually, physically, and mentally during this process is imperative. This will help to keep stress levels down and keep a clear mind.
