Never Settle

This week was a very interesting week for me. There were a number of things that seemed as though they were just not working out. I could go into detail but I don’t want to focus on what went wrong. I want to focus on what I learned. God has been pushing and pushing when it comes to faith. I’ve learned patience and endurance are necessary when waiting on God. Just because something feels good at the time it doesn’t mean that, that is what God has for you. You have to learn to never settle for safe. Just because you can’t see how it’s going to work out does not mean you take it upon yourself to make things work. And then wonder why everything is going completely wrong.

Many times we get impatience waiting on God to do something or bring someone in our life because it’s a process. Every thing that you’re going through and every season that you are in prepares you for the next season so don’t disqualify or undermine the season you are in right now. God has a plan for you. He has to prepare you and mold you so when he elevates you to the next level you are ready.

Don’t ignore the signs and checks in your gut. I know many people talk about woman intuition. I like to call it the Holy Spirit in you that is warning you to walk away. When was the last time you walked away from a situation that you knew it wasn’t time yet or knew that this is not what God has for you? But because you didn’t see anything else you ignored those signs and settled for it anyway. You have to learn to wait on God with an expectation, an expectation knowing that the promises he has for your life will come to pass. Never settle but wait on God's best for you and know that his ways are not our ways and his timing is not our timing.

Here are four tips to help you not to settle:

  1. Know who you are. If you know who you are in Christ that you are a child of God and that he will give you the desires of your heart, you are not going to settle for anything less than that. Your identity comes from Christ not from this world. Understand how valuable you are.

  2. Know your purpose. When you have a purpose and know why you were created you’re not going to take every opportunity or talk to every person that crosses your path if their purpose does not align with yours. Especially when it comes to relationships. Don’t be so desperate for an opportunity you take every opportunity that comes your way.

  3. Read your word and know and understand the promises that God has for your life. Know that he has plans to prosper you, not to harm you plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

  4. Develop your own relationship with God so you can hear his voice clearly and learn when he is telling you it’s time to close that door. Allow God to close and open your doors for he knows what’s best for you.
