Overcoming Fear!

For a long time I was hesitant to do certain things out of fear of what others may think of me or how people may view me. And then I found Jesus and he renewed my heart and my mind and he told me I had nothing to fear. For I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. And then he started leading me and guiding me in the direction he needed me to go.

You have to understand fear is just an unpleasant emotion. Yes, we are humans so it’s natural for us to have emotions and be fearful of things we never seen or encountered before. But you can’t let the emotion of fear prevent you from moving forward and stepping outside your comfort zone. Fear does not come from God. It's our mind telling us to wait and stop because we are walking toward unfamiliar territory. But you have to learn to have a little fear but still do it anyway. Who told you, you should be afraid? Who told you, you were not good enough? Who told you that your friends were not going to accept you for being who you really are? Who told you that you were ordinary? When nothing that God creates is ordinary.

I wonder how life would be if we all lived without any fear. Not afraid to step out on faith and be the person who God has called us to be and not the person who everyone want us to be. When you live your life through fear you allow the fear to control you and how you move in life. Many of us do not reach the next level or our full potential in life out of fear of what is on the other side. Well let me be the first to tell you that the moment I stepped out on faith my whole life changed for the better. One may ask well what about failure? What if I step out on faith and things don't go as planned? Well Romans 8:28 says “for all things work together for the good to them who are called according to his purpose.” So even the things that you thought were bad God turns them around for our God. We literally have nothing to fear. So it’s important that you keep growing, keep going and keep evolving. Take control of the emotion of fear and submit that emotion to the word of God. In the book of Isaiah 41:10 it says do not fear for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Use this as a reminder to remind yourself that you have nothing to fear. God is always with you and is working everything out for you.

Here are three tips to help you overcome fear:

1. Develop your own personal relationship with God. When you have your own relationship with God you will become more familiar with his presence. And in God’s presence fear does not exist.

2. Surround yourself with people who are on the same path as you. It’s much easier to live a life without fear when you surround yourself with people who are living fearlessly for God and walking in alignment with his promise.

3. Read the word of God and know the promises he has over your life. It’s the word of God that gives you the boldness and courage you need to move forward. Subscribe to Jordan's Journey emailing list to receive scriptures with short synopsis straight to your email.
